How to make your dream wedding cost-effective (thanks, inflation!)

Not that weddings have ever been inherently inexpensive, but it’s safe to say inflation isn’t making it any easier on the bank account! Keep reading to score a few tips that could save you a couple hundred (to a couple thousand) dollars on your big day without losing any of the magic you’re looking for.

Find a venue that will bundle services

Finding a wedding venue that encompasses all of your needs is where you will save the most money on your big day. Look for venues that include the little things such as linens, bride + groom suites, dance floor, event security, catering, and bar services. Not having to source these things yourself will save you time and money!

Psst - ask our staff about everything we include in a wedding package.

Embrace minimalist Bridesmaids bouquets

Any couple will be able to tell you the sticker shock that accompanies your first quote on flowers for their wedding. Consider smaller bouquets for your bridesmaids with a few larger flowers and surround them with beautiful greenery - they will look every bit as beautiful in photos without the extra dough.

Pro tip - have flower vases set up on the head table and use their bouquets as decor.

Go with the buffet!

While we would never dare to say plated meals aren’t an exquisite addition to any event, we cannot deny the savings of a buffet. If you are looking to cut costs, look into the buffet options provided by your caterer (*cough* we have some delicious ones *cough*) Buffets have come a long way since Golden Corrall, and catering companies are working hard to come up with creative (and delicious) solutions for couples on a budget.

Skip the photo booth + do a polaroid station instead

Photo booths can easily run well over $1,000 - consider purchasing a polaroid camera (or two) and a bunch of film for your guests to enjoy! This hip way of giving your guests some photo action will save you some cash - and look positively adorable. Don’t forget to have a photo album or scrapbook on the table, so your guests fill it up with memories for you to keep!

Downsize your cake

An opulent, 3-tier wedding cake is what comes to mind when considering a traditional wedding, but, let’s be honest, ever since the pandemic, all the rules are out the window! Downsize your cake to be used for the photos and have any dessert of your choosing - we’ve seen everything from cupcakes to cannolis!

To sum it up, keeping an open mind, a little creativity, and a DIY approach will save you lots of money at any venue, whether it’s a backyard wedding or at a 5-star hotel. You can still have the wedding of your dreams without going into debt. Final tip: make sure you and your partner are on the same page with spending on your big day! That way you can have your cake and eat it too.
