Vendor Spotlight: MMH Media

This past fall, we had the absolute pleasure of being part of the same wedding as a very talented local photographer Madeline Grosh of MMH Media! She was the perfect person to capture their big day at the beautiful venue of Conner Prairie, so we wanted to take a moment to give her a shout-out and have her answer a few questions about her business, the wedding industry, and more!

If you’re currently in the process of choosing a wedding photographer, be sure to check out her website and follow her on social media!

How'd you get into the wedding photography business?

After graduating from Ball State with a degree in photojournalism, I planned to use my photography skills to empower others while capturing genuine and authentic moments within their lives. The pandemic began just two months after I graduated, causing me to lose my full-time photography job. With the fears of the pandemic, weddings and other vendors were canceling left and right. Living in an apartment with just my boyfriend, we agreed I should take on some weddings to try and help others but also still pay the bills. Very quickly, I realized my passion and skills for capturing wedding days and all the love, laughter, tears, and joy that come with it! Just two years later, I was able to go full-time with my wedding photography business over this past summer. It's a unique story for sure, but without COVID, I would not have the thriving business, amazing clients, and beautiful lifestyle that I do today!

In your opinion, what are the three best questions a client can ask their photographer before hiring them?

After reviewing their website and portfolio, you should ask the photographer to see a FULL wedding gallery. This will show their attention to detail, moments throughout the day, and all the types of images you'll receive. The potential should also request information on turnaround time, any sneak peeks, and digital and physical copies of all images. Finally, I always recommend hopping on a phone or zoom call (or even better, grabbing coffee!) with any serious potential photographers!

Your photographer will be spending an incredibly important day of happy, tearful, and wonderful moments with you, so you want to ensure you "click" with them! If your personalities don't mesh well during a meeting, I always recommend continuing your search because you won't regret finding someone you do mesh with.

How would you describe your photography style?

I describe my photography style as photojournalistic with a bright and vivid editing style.

What's your favorite part of a wedding day?

My favorite moment of the wedding day would be the moments immediately following the ceremony when the couple is dancing down the aisle, giddy with excitement, and when they embrace for the first time in private after walking down the aisle! They high five; they cry; they're just stunned and so filled with joy, it's bringing tears to my eyes just thinking about the pure happiness I witness in these short moments.

What was your favorite item on the menu at the last JB catered wedding you photographed?

The black Angus inside a round of beef and twice-baked cheesy potatoes were both fantastic!!! (Editor’s Note: We concur, these are both absolutely delicious, and we’re so glad you got to try them out, Madi.)

What are the top three reasons a couple should consider you to capture their big day?

Not only will I be there every step of the way through your planning by having multiple planning meetings with you, creating your full wedding timeline, and providing vendor recommendations, but I will be there all day of your wedding and for the days, weeks, and years following it. I will celebrate with you in joy, I will have tissues in my pocket for the tears, and I am not afraid of giving tasks to your bridal party or family to assist and ease your stress on your wedding day. I also bring along an emergency kit to every wedding and will get on my knees to sew your dress or pants, use the Tide to go stick on your dress, or safety pin your bridesmaids' bra. I pride myself in that I will be right beside you truly every step of your journey for your wedding if you want me <3
